The distinction
Reporting tools describe the lifecycle. Provarium operates it.
Reporting tools sit on top of the systems an institution already runs. They read the data those systems hold and present it back — clearer, faster, better organised. The capital itself still moves through the old seams.
Provarium is the layer the capital moves through. It allocates, moves, reconciles, and accounts. A reporting tool describes the lifecycle after the fact. Provarium operates it as the fact.
The answer
One environment. Two surfaces governed to one standard, on a financial backbone that holds the full lifecycle.
Donor engagement and giving carries recurring and one-off giving across modern rails — card, ACH, digital wallets, DAF-pay — with donor-configured plans and the front end of the relationship. Fund management governs restricted, endowed, and designated capital to the intent it was given under. The financial backbone underneath holds payment orchestration, cross-border disbursement, reconciliation, and the audit-ready record beneath both.
Most institutions begin where the need is universal — giving received correctly across every rail — and grow outward: into fund governance, and, for those that run or want to run a donor-advised fund programme, into DAF administration as an enhancement on the same layer. The institution is never asked to buy the whole layer to begin; it is asked to begin where capital is already moving.
Stewardship as structure
Stewardship here is a property of the system, not a discipline staff maintain by vigilance.
Reconciliation runs continuously. Records are audit-ready at every step. Allocation logic is enforced, not recalled. The institution does not work harder to be accountable — the layer is accountable by construction.
